Do you have what it takes to be a Cheerleader?

Updated: Sep 18, 2017

Cheerleading can be demanding and requires a great deal of time, energy. and effort. Are you ready to make the commitment to become the very best cheerleader possible?

Cheerleading is an attitude. Cheerleaders should be outgoing, friendly, and supportive to their teammates as well as other cheerleaders. As a cheerleader, you must be able to remain energetic and enthusiastic for long practices, games, and events. This may require several hours a day 2 to 7 days per week.

Cheerleaders must enjoy working hard and staying in shape. This means having the ability to take constructive criticism, while cooperating with others to reach a common goal.

If you are ready to be the center of attention, cheerleading is the sport for you. However, being in the spotlight requires commitment to your team. You must be willing to make all practices, and give full respect to your coaches. As a cheerleader you may also be asked to participate in fundraising or volunteer events. Be a team player and support your cheer program when they are involved in these types of activities. They are a great way to help your cheer program and community, as well as providing opportunities outside of practice to get to know your teammates. If this describes you, then you are well on your way to handling the responsibilities and commitments necessary to becoming the very best cheerleader you can be.
