Every team wants their routine to be together and tight. Simple motion drills can be a great way to make sure every cheerleader is has the perfect technique. Three simple motion drills are The Line Drill, The Circle Drill, and "Coach Says":
The Line Drill
Have your team stand in a straight line, one behind the other. As the captain or coach calls out a motion, the goal is for the cheerleaders to synchronize their motions with one another. Hold the motion, making sure to check technique down the line. As the moves become more synchronized, increase the speed of the counts.
The Circle Drill
Have your team stand in a circle, facing each other. Just like in the line drill, the captain or coach will call out a motion and the team will synchronize their motions with one another. Again, hold the motion and check for technique. This is a good team building exercise, as the cheerleaders will learn to look at one another as a whole, instead of individually.
"Coach Says"
Just like Simon says, except the coach or captain will call out motions or other drills for the cheerleaders to perform. Take this opportunity to focus on technique.
